This is the .DE TLD which represents Germany, and is one of the best-selling country TLDs lately. However, the registry of this domain, DENIC, has set a few specific requirements for the management of this domain and the completing of the domain registration process.

WHOIS / Contact Information:The registry, DENIC, requires a street address or a P.O. Box within Germany to be given as an administrative contact, in order for the registration to be approved. For that reason, an additional step has been included in the registration process, in which, after the WHOIS information has been accepted, the German address of the P.O. Box has to be further confirmed. If, for some reason, the information is not found "correct", the .DE registry, DENIC, will most probably reject the registration and, in such case, a notification will be sent to the registrant.
Registration Period:Optional to choose from durations of 1 to 10 years. Renewals for multiple years are available as well.
Domain Renewal:Renewals are allowed up to 10 days before the expiration date. After that, a "Transit" status is added to the domain name by the registry and the registrant is searched for a contact. If, for 4 weeks, there has been no response from the registrant, the domain is transferred to DENICdirect for management and the registrant must then contact them, if they wish to regain possession of the same domain name.
WHOIS / ID Protection:The service is not available for .DE domain names.
Registrar Change / Transfer:There is no possibility to change the .DE domain name registrar.
