New Upgrades: Hosting Plan Features and WHOIS Protection
Last information update - Friday, August 3, 2007

We are glad to announce that new services are available for upgrade in the web control panel. The most important upgrade is the ID Protect service that is purposed to protect the information, displayed in the WHOIS of your domain names, from illegal use. At the same time, we increased the number of service that can be added to the web hosting plans of your hosting accounts. The following information will tell you more about these innovations.

New upgrades in the Add Services section

In the Add Services section we have added some new features that must improve the capabilities of our hosting plans. Thus you are able to order more subdomains, mailboxes and e-mail addresses, mailing lists, FTP accounts and cronjobs, whenever you need them and thus always have sufficient resources available.

WHOIS / ID Protect for your domain names

This service concerns the security of your domain names. The service is called ID Protect (also known as WHOIS / ID Protect) and protects the WHOIS information of your domain name(s) from spammers, fraudsters and solicitors who may use illegally your e-mails, phone numbers, etc. Our registrar is doing that by displaying fictitious information in the WHOIS, but at the same time the e-mails that are sent to the fictitious e-mail address are filtered and forwarded to the real e-mail address that is set in the WHOIS.

The ID Protect service is available for order only for .com / .net / .org / .biz / .info domain names that are registered with our registrar. Unfortunately country domain names like the .us TLD do not allow such service to be activated. It's important to know also that the service has an expiration date that is not related to the expiration date of the domain.

Order ID Protect with new domain(s)

The service can be ordered during the usual domain registration process. At the top of the WHOIS / Order page, there is a list of the domain name (s) that will be registered with the option to activate ID Protect service and for how many years. The number of years of the ID Protect service must not exceed the domain registration period. You will know that a domain is registered and ID Protect service is activated, if you see a green-shield-icon in the All Registered tab of the Domain Manager.

Order ID Protect for your registered domain(s)

In order to activate the service for domains that are already registered with our registrar, the easiest way would be to go to the Domain Manager and click the Add link in the ID Protect column for the domain you want to protect.
You can order the service also by using the Quick Controls option in the upper-left corner of the web Control panel. In the WHOIS section of the panel that will open, you must click on the Order ID Protect link. If the there is active ID Protect service for this domain name, at the same place there will be a Manage ID Protect link that can be used to manage the status of the service.
The third option to order the service is available when the Edit WHOIS option in the Domain Manager is selected. On the page there is a green Order WHOIS / ID Protection link that opens an ID Protect order prompt section.

Manage the ID Protect status

There are two options in the web Control panel that allow the service to be enabled or disabled. The first one is to go to the Domain Manager and click on the green shield for the selected domain name. In the small panel that will appear you will see the current status and an option to change it (enable or disable). The Quick Controls panel allows the same action via the Manage ID Protect link. If you are wondering why would you need to disable ID Protect, here is an example: You may want to take advantage of these options when you are transferring a domain name away because the approval of the transfer request requires receiving a verification e-mail that the ID Protect may filter.
